Location: Great Harbor, Jost van Dyke

Morning 18 on FriendShip started with some music to wake up and amazing pancakes made by Kaya and Katie. After breakfast, we sailed from GHP to Salt Island to dive into the shipwreck called the Rhone. We got an interesting lesson on the history of the wreck before we dove. We saw a variety of intriguing marine life. Aiden and Xander saw a big puffer fish, and Kaya saw a sea turtle! Celeste got her open water scuba certification today! After we dove the Rhone, we came back to FriendShip for lunch. We had a study session before taking our sailing test, and everyone passed! After our test, we all had a grand ole’ time swimming together. Xander got on his grind and swam some laps around the boat. Charley, Bea, Sophie, and I perfected our dives off the side of the boat while Dylan splashed us all with water-filled buckets. We then took a Dingey to Salt Island and hiked to the top of the mountain where the people from the shipwreck were buried. On our way up, shoeless Erich stepped on a cactus that ended up in both of his feet and his left hand (Mr. and Mrs. Laughlin, Erich is completely fine, we promise)! We then hiked back down while Cahan practiced his rock skipping. The motor to the dinghy stopped working, so James and Garrett had to paddle back with their hands. We then sailed back to GHP and made breakfast for dinner. We then ended the night quadruple rafted with Avizia, Shamwari, and Beso.
