Arrival Day!!!
Location: West End, Tortola
Hello parents, friends, family, and others! After three weeks of staff training and packing the boat to the gills with food, we are finally prepared to welcome our shipmates and embark on this fantastic three-week adventure. We have some amazing activities and experiences planned and will certainly keep everyone updated day to day with the blog!
Now let’s meet the staff:
James Robinson, Professional Bandaid Counter
James was born and raised in northern California, never living far from an ocean. He developed a love for all water sports in California, including sailing, surfing, swimming, water polo, rafting, wakeboarding, and diving. He found his true passion for sailing after a voyage onboard S/Y Argo from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean as a student with Seamester in the fall of 2018. In addition to sailing, James has a passion for the medical field, as evidenced by his years of experience as an EMT and his pursuit of a nursing career. James is excited to reunite with ActionQuest as the Director of Medical Operations for another summer full of sailing, diving, water sports, and overall fun!
Garrett Walker, Professional Sailor (that is excited to learn how to sail)
Garrett grew up just outside of Denver, Colorado. As a student aboard S/Y Vela, Garrett discovered his passion for sailing and decided to pursue it. After this voyage, Garrett took his talents to Maine, where he worked aboard a traditional schooner, and to S/Y Argo for delivery from Thailand to South Africa. Garrett enjoys hockey, playing guitar, reading, and hiking when not sailing.
Izy Lyon, Professional Bubble Blower
Izy has been working in experiential education since 2019 and can’t wait to share her love of the marine ecosystem with fellow adventurers. She took her first breaths underwater while aboard a Seamester program. She earned her divemaster certification at Marine Conservation Philippines, where she learned about the marine ecosystem and how to protect it for future generations. She became an instructor to unite her passion for the environment with her love of youth development and is so excited to see what her students will accomplish. When she is not teaching scuba, Izy loves to backpack, climb, and spend time with her awesome nieces and nephew.
