Day 3
Today was an early start with a 7 AM wake-up time in order to quickly get over to the “The Indians” dive spot, which was only right around the corner from last night’s sleep spot. The crew enjoyed a wonderful egg and blueberry muffin breakfast cooked by Kai and Anzie that got us all fueled up and ready to dive. We had our quick sail, briefed, set up, and got in the water around 11. Our bottom time for the dive was almost 40 minutes, and we saw beautiful coral, parrot fish, and a diverse array of small schools of fish. Everyone really enjoyed the dive, and it was relaxing to start the trip off with a fun dive (a non-DM course dive). However, we were able to see and learn from Stick and India as they showed us how to properly lead a dive that would mimic open water students. For the dive, we split into groups, and the group with Claire, Anzie, Kai, Jake, Sally, and David all saw a puffer fish (Sally’s favorite), which got everyone stoked pretty in the dive. After diving, we had a PB&J and sandwich lunch before moving to the base of the mooring in Road Town for a brief refuel on gas and water. Josh, Anzie, Player, and David helped us dock and manage lines as we came in and out of port. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew worked hard to complete chapters 2 and 3 of our DM course, which focused on DM responsibilities and diving demos/skills. Kai, Claire, Jake, Sally, and Daisy worked on the dive books but were able to enjoy some time together after to talk and learn more about each other. The day was filled with swapping stories and talking about who we were back home. We then had a long sail to Mountain Point, where we split up into small groups to work on giving Demo lessons on some pre-dive techniques that we will put into practice tomorrow when we help lead Sail Side Rotation Day. After getting to Mountain Point, we had dinghy lessons and cooked an amazing pasta and hotdog dinner before showering. Our “squeeze” question of the night touched on what makes us happiest in life, and it was touching and really sweet to hear everyone’s answers. Everyone is super excited for tomorrow, but I can’t believe it’s already been two days. It was a really incredible day, and it feels like the boat is really coming together as we get more comfortable aboard. Grateful.
