Location: The Baths, Virgin Gorda
Today’s start was bright and early morning sail! As all students started waking up around 6:30, we had a great breakfast of bagels with cream cheese, cantaloupe, vanilla, and peach yogurt with an add-on of granola. We sailed to the Baths, which are a popular and unique rock formation, and fun fact: It’s one of the largest tourist attractions in the BVIS. We sailed up to the point where we tied onto a mooring ball, and everyone lined up to get on a dingy to head to the rocks. We all got in, and we heard a little more about the baths, which was that they have a history that dates all the way back to the Triangle trade. Everyone jumped off the dingy and swam to shore, we took a lovely group photo and began our little an adventurous trip to the baths. Everyone had a blast, which included in some people jumping off multiple times or just enjoying the scenery. After jumping off, all of the students began to do their own thing. Kennedy, Amaya, Liliana, and I jumped off once and chose to explore the baths. Jovian, Dawson, Cameron, Gavin, and Andrew all continue their ruthless activities, leading to a total of jumping off the rocks around 8-10 times! Holden did his own thing, which included jumping off the rock and exploring the caves, and I might as well add that he had a wonderful time. Once we were done at the baths we got back out to a dingy and went back to the boat, we left for Spanish town and everyone once again, got on a dingy to the town. We all arrived at around 12:00-12:30 and were told to come back to the boats around 2:30. We headed to a local restaurant called Bath and Turtle, and everyone was satisfied.
Andrew, Jovian, and Gavin walked through the limited shops in town while Cameron, Dawson, Katy, and Pearl enjoyed the refreshing ice team. Liliana, Kennedy, Amaya, and I explored the shops, and Liliana and Kennedy bought some clothing items! Holden had a great time hanging out with some other AQ students around Spanish town! Everyone got back to the boats and chilled around the main area while we sailed to a new area to put down the anchor. As we sailed, Whitney put on Lady Gaga, and everyone vibed to the music while enjoying the waves. Andrew made an interesting drink mix of lemonade powder and iced tea powder, and he said it tasted “ Very sour.” The squeeze question for today was, “What is your biggest pet peeve?” And all of the students replied honestly. Today was a big day; everyone enjoyed being on land for the first time in a few days and jumping into the scenic, clear, blue water.
