Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda

Our day started off struggling to get out of bed from the horrendous hurricane-like rainstorm that smacked us the night before. Luckily, our crew, consisting of Gavin, Andrew, Jovian, Dawson, Cameron, Holden, Katie, Pearl, Suki, Kennedy, Amaya, and Liliana, were able to have a filling breakfast consisting of maple brown sugar, apple cinnamon, and cinnamon spice oatmeal. The first activity of Rotation day was loading everybody on the dinghy and heading to the “Odyssey”, (Another sailing vessel nearby) to learn sailing knots to prepare for the many days of sailing to come. After around 20 minutes of our knot-tying class, we had a 30-minute break jumping off the boat, which gave everybody a huge relief. After knot tying, we had 4 of our members loaded on a dinghy at a time to start our next activity, Water skiing! For the next 2 hours, me (Gavin) and my crew had an exasperating time out water skiing, wakeboarding, and kneeboarding. Not long after, we headed back to our main ship to have lunch. Today’s lunch consisted of Chicken Salad sandwiches and PB&J sandwiches, which, in my opinion, wasn’t the best. After lunch, we quickly huddled into the dinghy to head to the dive boat to have a practice dive. Today’s dive was done around 15ft of water.

Me (Gavin), Jovian, Dawson, Cameron, and Holden saw a pretty chill southern stingray surrounded by a school of fish. It swam right up to my feet! Everyone else was doing their dive to test their skills for their open water certification. After our dive, we had the final activity of the day—paddleboard races. The goal was to take two laps around the boat behind us and back to ours. What played out looked more like an uncoordinated free-for-all from crews of paddle boarders trying to flip and sabotage other crews. Cam and Dawson got first place, while Jovian, Andrew, and I got second place. For dinner tonight we had beef stroganoff with tomatoes and garlic bread, Which was a very good dinner despite the fact that we had a lack of utensils. Overall, today was just another great day here in the tropics.
