Location: Little Harbor, Jost van Dyke

Hi everyone! I’m Makena, and I’m acting as your skipper for the day. This chaotic day started off early when we were woken up at 6 AM to get ready for our hike. It was a rainy morning, so everyone was a little grumpy. Spirits were quickly changed when Tony, Arden, and Gwen went around the boat and got everyone hyped for the climb. Robert “made cereal” for breakfast, and everyone gobbled it down in a hurry. We then stumbled into a dingy with our newly claimed phones in hand and zipped to shore to start the hike. Mike gave a quick speech that I’m sure everyone definitely listened to, and then we were off (like a herd of turtles). Owen and Henry were very bold and tried to run the first part… which ended up being short-lived. Our mighty group was taking on an 8-mile hike that was steeper than a cliff. It was a struggle, to say the least, but we ended up making it to the top. Well… At least all of our boat. Henry is proud to say that he was the first from our boat to make it to the top, while Makena refuses to admit that she tripped on the way back. We finished the hike and got to spend some time in Cane Bay. We all marched into the market together, and Sophia came out with a jumbo box of fruity pebbles (half had already been eaten by the group). We all spent time talking to our parents and hanging out until it was time to go back to the boat and sail to a new location. We ended up at Sandy Key, and all decided to head to the beach for a swim. We took a dingy to shore. Ben and Jack played football with Tony, and after a while, we headed back to the boat. While Gwen and Arden helped fellow staff turn a co-worker into a beautiful mermaid. We raised sails for the second time today and made our way to the final destination of the day, Little Harbour Jost Van Dyke.

We got ready for the fourth barbecue of the trip, and Sipora and Ellie put on pretty dresses. We got to the barbecue, and everyone went straight to the shops. Almost all of us ended up getting some type of souvenir. Ella spent the night on the dance floor with some friends while Miles could be found getting cornrow braids done in his hair. After a long day, the crew was excited to have a yummy meal and end up back at the boat for a late-night hang. We all miss our families but were also sad to be leaving so soon. The memories we have made so far have been unforgettable. Sending love to the Mudd Fam! I miss you guys. LHHLL.

All the best,
Makena M.
