Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Hello, I’m Miles, today’s skipper. Today was a rotation day that started off with either water skiing, wakeboarding, or knee-boarding. Robert had quite the wipeout where he lost his skis and attempted to run on the water, and Ella received much praise as she finally managed to stand up on the skis. Hooray! The next rotation was scuba diving, where we had lots of fun, and some people even finished all the lessons needed to continue to deep water diving and eventually get PADI certified. Amanda’s group, which consisted of Ben, Owen, and Sipora, even managed to see a couple of squids during their dive. For lunch today, the group devoured some grilled cheese sandwiches made by our truly, Gwen. Our third rotation was a lesson on sail theory, specifically the steps taken during a “Man Overboard” drill. We learned the figure eight method to save someone who has unfortunately fallen into the water. Although interesting, Jack and Sophia struggled to cope with their heavy eyelids. The fourth rotation was paddling boarding and games. During a little free time, Ellie and Makena chatted on the bow of the boat in the radiating sun. Evie, Owen, Henry, and I decided to try and catch a seagull in an attempt to put it on another boat as a fun prank. Evie covered herself in a sleeping sack and covered herself in Cheerios and Mini Wheats in order to lure the seagulls in. They were more interested in the cereal in the water, and we were unsuccessful. The cleanup took a long time, as the crumbs got soggy and sticky with the residual water on the boat from the rain beforehand. The whole boat was tired after this long day, and it was super enjoyable to have a nice dinner together. Sipora and Henry prepared a chicken Caesar salad and broccoli cream risotto. The whole boat took a joint effort to clean the boat as we danced and jammed to music carefully selected by Arden, which helped speed up the process and hype everyone up. As we finished cleaning up and started playing card games and getting ready for bed, Gwen surprised us with some freshly baked, warm chocolate chip cookies, which rounded off an amazing, eventful day.
