Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

Hi, I’m Sophia, and I’m skipper for today.
Today we had to wake up at 5;30 to sail to Anegada from the place we had anchored to sleep. Once everyone was up and we had been sailing for a little bit, we had breakfast. For breakfast, we had pancakes which the chef and sous chef. Today, Ellie and Robert had made, which everyone enjoyed. Afterward, we continued our sail to Anegada. Our plans were the “Boat Olympics” in the activity. We would be competing in a series of games against other boats. After the sail over, which was about 2 hours, we got ready to leave the boat by repping Odyssey with green zink and making chants. We got onto the dingy and got driven over to the island where the other boats were already waiting for us.

Once we arrived, we floated in the water for a while, waiting for everyone to come and for the games to start. Tony, Arden, and Gwen called our boat over and explained the activities we would be doing to us. First, we would place a paddle on the sand and do a hole under it. Everyone in our boat would then have to get under the paddle without messing it up from its place in the sand. Owen and Ella were the fastest diggers and got most of the hole dug out in a few seconds. All of us then went under the shovel, either by Henry dragging us by the opposite side or by crawling. Both resulted in being completely covered in sand. After we made it through the hole, we had to run to the water and come back before the next person could go. We ended up getting second place. Secondly was the Fender rodeo; in this activity, three people in each boat sit on life flotation devices and try to stay on as long as possible without flipping off while the staff splashes them. From our boat, Henry and Robert, and I chose to do it this round. We all swam out about 10 feet and sat on the fender. I was out within literally 5 seconds, but Henry and Robert stayed strong for a long time; during the final four people, Henry got out, and then shortly after, Robert got out when it was only him and one other person. We got second in this activity.

In the third activity, we had to get three people onto a dingy which was soaped up and really slippery, while staff tried to push them off. Makena, Ellie, and Jack participated in this one. Everyone started at the beach and ran as fast as they could to the dinghy. Makena got up fairly quickly, considering the staff’s attempts to keep her off. Jack went around to the opposite side of the boat, where a lot fewer people were, which made it easier to get up onto the boat. Lastly, Ellie got on the boat, and we were finished with the game. We got second place, but in our eyes, we got first.

We all then took a break while the staff got us lunch and floated and talked in the water; conversations included Evie falling out of her hammock the night before. During the break, Henry and Miles decided to attempt to do backflips off the sand piles. They slayed the day even though they had only a few slightly successful flips. For lunch, the staff brought back peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and we all ate on the beach. After we finished eating, we went back to the games. We then had a tug of war. Our boat was fairly confident we would win, which we did. Then we had to play the winners of the previous round and won again. Finally, we had our last game, which was kinda crazy. We each had to crawl through the rest of the people’s legs, spin around five times, run to the water without getting tackled, get a mouthful of water, run back to the boat, and spit it into a can. Sipora was the fastest crawler and made it back really fast. Ben got us the most water by emptying his shirt into the can. We placed second. We then all made our way back to the boat and had dinner, which was vegan burgers. Then to close out the day, we had a dive chat.
