All of our adventure summer sailing camps include some time spent living aboard a yacht and most are run full-time aboard sailing vessels. This is a core component of any AQ experience. Beyond the fun, living and learning aboard a yacht offers a perfect environment to develop leadership and communication skills, as there is nothing contrived about teamwork when working together as part of a tight-knit crew.
Our sailing camps have always been grounded in experiential education. Shipmates have a greater feeling of accomplishment from having completed things themselves. In addition, self-reliance and confidence soar from achieving new skills and certifications.
Introductory Sailing Camps
Any of our introductory sailing camps include both theory and practical sections to give a basic understanding of the knowledge that is required to be an active crew member on board either a power or sailing yacht.

Advanced Sailing Programs
More advanced sailing programs include the VHF radio licence as well as the watchkeeper and basic flotilla skipper certificate. Every crew member needs to know how to operate a marine radio. This course covers general rules for the use and operation of VHF Radios, what to do in the case of an emergency and an introduction to other marine communications equipment. Radio operator qualifications from a recognized issuing authority will be accepted in lieu of the IYT qualification.

AQ is an International Yacht Training (IYT) Partner School. We teach sailing through the IYT International Yachting Passport global scheme, a modular training program designed to develop skills from beginner through to the professional level.
A student's previous experience, as well as the summer sailing camp that they choose, will determine the sailing certifications available. Some programs are more sailing intensive than others so please read through the individual program descriptions for more information or call our Florida office on +1.941.924.6789.
