Location: Saba, Dutch Caribbean
Hey there! My name is Mary, and I’m the skipper on “Meow or Never”. Last night, we had an overnight sailing. It was so rough we could barely do the boat checks. Many people felt quite unwell, leading to some messes. I was on watch with Carolina and Anno, and I did the 12 AM boat check. We ended up sprawled around the boat, tired and just waking up as Saba came into view. The shadow of the island made me feel relieved to be off the open water. We spent two hours relaxing before going scuba diving or snorkeling! Claire, Jada, Anda, Ethan, and I went scuba diving and saw beautiful purple coral, a sea turtle, and a barracuda. Carolina, Anno, Ale, and Ari went snorkeling and saw a squid! We came back to our boat, which had fairly rocky waters, but after the overnight passage, no one could complain. We played spoons (which led to some infighting) and practiced our knots while it rained outside. Jada and I shared the squeeze question and had a blast getting to know people better. After the long day, I’m excited to finally get some sleep in my hammock, and I’m sure everyone else feels similarly. Tomorrow we’re going to Saba itself, and we get to call our parents while we’re there. Signing off, Mary
