Location: White Bay, Peter Island

On day 2 of our ActionQuest trip, we finally left port and sailed White Bay to nearby Peter Island. The two-hour trip wasn’t void of fun and excitement. The students slept, talked, and took advantage of the rather rough waves to play fun games on the bow of the boat, using the dip of the bow to jump higher than they ever could. Eventually, the kids settled down and fell asleep bathing in the sun.

After around 2 hours (according to our captain Will), we finally arrive to the dive site, today’s dive wasn’t anything too advanced, only a refresher in shallow waters on basic skills and techniques. Before the dive came the dreaded swim test, which included swimming six laps around the boat and treading water for 10 minutes, which wouldn’t be too difficult normally, but an extra layer of difficulty was added by the fact that a very powerful (and rather unexpected) downpour came down on us, but the swim test was completed without much incident.

The dive itself started with the students dividing into two teams lead by our diving instructors Kyler and Whitney, Whitney’s team consisted of students Ella, Fynn, Maren, Charlotte and Andree, while Kyler’s consisted of students Morgan, Casey, Jackson, Hugo, Lila and Alex. During the dive, we refreshed and studied our basic skills, such as hovering, sharing air with a buddy, and draining our diving mask of water. While the dive wasn’t too technical, and it was raining the entire time we were setting up, it was nice to be back in the water.
