Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
We woke up today to a breakfast of oatmeal and cereal. Around the table, we began strategizing as today was a race day. Today, we would race the other sailside boats in the fleet from Sandy Cay to Soper’s Hole Marina/West End. Lilly, as the skipper for the day, went to the big skipper meeting to get important information about the race. We decided the roles each of us would have on the boat as we raced. Gwynnie helmed, Bryce took in the jib, Elle and Coco sweated the halyard, Blake and Bryce winched the jib, and David took in the main sheet. With everyone’s efforts combined, we got second place! Then we celebrated with lunch at Soper’s Hole at Omar’s Cafe and Pussers, where we stayed until 1:00. After lunch, we sailed to Great Harbour Peter, and along the way, we made a lot of new memories. Throughout the Drake Channel, the wind was at an all-time high, so we all had a lot of fun switching from the low side to the high side and really getting the sailing experience. While Lilly, Sloane, Gwynnie, Anna, Clara, Ellery, and Coco were downstairs, we tacked, and a lot of things down below flew!.
We also got egged by a boat named Hope, which was witnessed by Anna, David, Elle, Blake, Bryce, and Iris. Once we got to the Harbour, we spent lots of time cleaning the boat. We had an ocean shower and had Mexican Night for dinner, where we all had homemade guacamole. Mike came over for dinner, and we talked about his ideas for future ActionQuest trips, geography, pronunciation, and some of his stories when he was a counselor. Ellery, Anna, Coco, Clara, and Gwynnie got eggs from the boat Ghost Rider (AKA director Mike’s boat). They got on the dinghy and (with Mike’s enthusiastic consent) threw the eggs at Hope as revenge. We ended the night with Brownies and Oatmeal Cookies, happy knowing we got even with the other boat and got eggs for a great dessert.
PS- Happy Canada Day!!!
