Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today we started off the day in perfect conditions: pouring rain. While Emmy, Paul, and Anna persevered and did yoga on the hardtop (they were soaked), the rest of us cowered in the blue lagoon. Then, after extensive preparations from Logan and Mirah, we had breakfast burritos, which were actually pretty good. Much to everyone’s relief, today was laundry day, and after Noah ran around the boat looking for his sleepy sack, the laundry was taken. After breakfast, we did our first research dive, which overall went well despite some minor confusion, but me and Anya managed to figure it out. Also, Regean almost ran out of air, but don’t worry, she was fine, and Rachel was ready as her dive buddy in case she wasn’t. After our regular, extremely healthy post-dive snack of Oreos and frozen Hershey’s kisses, we did our squid dissection led by Joe. During the dissection, Anna made some delicious grilled cheese for lunch, which everyone enjoyed wholeheartedly. After lunch, Derek attempted to trap a seagull by threatening to jump in the water on top of it, but after some advice from Joe, he decided against it. Following lunch, we went for our second digital photo dive, where we all got some good pictures (Paul’s were mostly of gobies since he’s now obsessed with them). Also, Maya had a few spacial awareness issues (nothing too serious) and almost gave one or two people a concussion by kicking them in the head. Afterward, we came back and showered, and although we were supposed to be working on our projects, pretty much everyone decided to nap instead (even Rachel, who claims she never naps). As Logan and Mirah cooked, Garett whipped up some brownies as an apology to Jake (the captain of a different boat), as there had been some beef between them, but they were all good now except for the pending egging of their boat. Then, we had our Thanksgiving-themed dinner, which was pretty good, and although the mashed potatoes were quite a little burnt, it was a nice dinner. We finished with the squeeze led by me, and we added the wave to our post-squeeze ritual. At the moment, everyone is doing the cleaning up, and pretty soon, we’ll all be snuggling up for a movie night. Hopefully, it won’t rain again tonight (it probably will).
Salutations to all parents, friends, and family. You are missed very much
