Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke

We started out tired and early at 6:00, and quickly started breakfast, thanks to gopher Sophia, followed by a quick dishy pit from Mengmei, Sophie, Blake, and Pierce, who did dishy pit as fast as possible. We quickly got ready to go to the dock, where we started the hike. The hike was around 6-8 miles from the top to the bottom of the island. It started out really steep, but leveled off around 800ft up. It was long, hot, and tiring, but everyone on our boat did it. Izzy got lost for a little bit but found the correct trail and eventually made it to the top. After reaching the top, we had a quick smoothie break before heading down the mountain. As we went down, Breccan got a whole box full of Oreo’s, and got a few mangos, too.

Once we reached the bottom, we stopped for lunch, and everyone from Action Quest was there. It took Pierce and me (Brian) over one and a half hours to get our food. It was worth it, though. After lunch, we went to a grocery store and a clothing store. After 5 hours, we left the island to go back to our boats and prepare for the sandcastle competition. But before we could do so, we had a talk with Amanda and Grace about keeping the galley clean. (It had been pretty dirty as of late.) Then, Joey started motoring the boat to the next location.

Breccan came up with the idea of a big mama turtle and a few baby turtles, and Malika and Sophie helped add onto it. Then, it was sandcastle building time. We started with the big turtle, and then started the small turtles. Emme worked especially hard to make sure the limbs of the turtle were the correct size and placement. Blake made a baby turtle of only seaweed, and Sophie colored the main turtle with charcoal. But in the end, It was Breccan’s amazing speech that made us win the entire competition! After we celebrated, we went back to the boat and took showers, in preparation for the BBQ at Sidney’s peace and love!

Once we arrived, we started preparing for the BBQ, and before we knew it, it started! Sophia, Emme, Oon, Oey, Mengmei, and Izzy spend a lot of time playing speed, and Breccan got two hats, a shirt, and braids! The hats and shirt were really funny. Everyone had a good time and some ice cream. Soon enough, the 3 hours were over. After the BBQ, everyone wanted the A/C, but Joey did not turn it on. I thought it was fine though, cause I sleep outside.

It was a really fun, yet tiring day. My watch said that we did over 24,000 steps and over 11 miles in total—definitely the most physically active and tiring day. But overall, it was a good day. See you all soon!
