Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Day 17: Tea?
Tommy clanged our whole boat up at four am, so nobody could say they slept through the night. But nevertheless, we were pleasantly woken up by Grandmother Joe telling us to eat our porridge and get our PFDs on. So, of course, we did because we all feared Abuela’s wrath. Then we took a quick sail back to West End, where we started this adventure, which was a weird deja vu feeling. We cleaned the whole boat and all the dishes before we were allowed off onto the dock. We got some shore time, and many of us ended up at the brunch spot right off of the dock – Maya and Emmy shared some delicious shakshuka, Logan had pancakes and bacon, and Anya had an avocado bagel. Garrett, Noah, Mirah, Emmy, Maya, and Paul all bought snacks, and despite having purchased his own snacks, Paul vehemently tried to get Rachel’s applesauce from a previous shore day.
As we trickled back onto the boat, we waited to get replenished for food, then helped Joe finish cleaning and set off for a sail to Great Harbor Peter once more. Sail side had their race day, so the radio was pretty active as we were underway. Dive side, as always, is best.
Once at GHP, we splashed for our research dives to collect our final data before our papers had to be done (tonight). Emmy and Tessa did not collect any data, however, due to the transect line they were using being tangled past help. Logan and Paul had a great time finding gobies, as Garrett, Maya, and Noah crushed a water bottle with pressure. Derek and Regan sat surface and ate their Oreos. We all love Oreos.
We all had a great collective nap, dinner of tacos, and Garrett, Emmy, and Rachel went on a makeup night dive. Now everyone is finishing their papers, besides the two of us with a tangled transect. Better luck tomorrow.
Mom + Dad, this is the last blog that I, Emmy, get to write. I do hope you enjoyed it. To all other parents, your kids are ballers, and I am so glad we are all on the Dolphin adventure living on Soul Rebel.
