Location: Gallowsbay, St. Eustatia
Today, on The Frenchie boat, we traveled from Saba to St. Eustatia. The sail was supposed to be only around four hours, but due to certain complications, it ended up being around seven and a half hours. Once we arrived, we had to deep clean the whole boat because, to be honest, it was very nasty, and that took about an hour and a half to clean. After our counselors told us we were going on a hike, but we ended up meeting the other Minerva boat and walking around the town and going to shops. We got dropped off at the nearest dock and were told to be back by 5:30 pm. During our walk, we found a small restaurant, and most got mango and strawberry smoothies. After getting our smoothies, the group branched off. Derrick went with the counselors to the supermarket. Jack, Sloane, and Peter went around town trying to find the supermarket but found a different store altogether. Zoe, Claire, and Carson joined the older group and got directions to the supermarket. Z, Adnan, and I shared calamari and wings as a “small” snack at a nearby restaurant. After, we heard there was a super market in town. After asking around, searching, and finally finding directions (we forced Derrick to lead us there), the shop was on the top of an extremely steep hill. After walking for about ten minutes, we walked into the supermarket, and the group loaded up on many snacks and goodies. Once we finished, in little groups, we all walked back down the very large hill and made our way back down to the dock to be picked up by our councilors. We got back to our boats in three groups and had a quick ocean shower in one of the clearest and cleanest ocean waters I’ve ever seen. Thankfully, this ocean was Jellyfish free. After, we had a Mexican dinner, cleaned up the boat again, and played Squeeze. The question of the day today was, “What is your favorite chip flavor?”. Most said Takis or Salt and Vinegar. After, when everybody finished cleaning, we were very unfortunately surprised with spoiled milk spilled all over the snack cabinet. The Salon Keeper, Claire had to clean the mess up.
