Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke
Hi, it’s Oona. This is my second and, sadly, last time writing the blog. Today, we started the day pretty early, leaving the boat at 7 am for a hike. The hike took us from sea level to the highest point in the BVI’s, Mount Sage. The beginning of the hike was definitely the hardest part, as we were gaining almost all the elevation we needed in the first 0.8 miles. For the rest of the hike, we were basically following a ridge line to the top. I did most of the hike with Caitlin and Mason on the way up, and because we had our phones, we stopped every few minutes to take photos. Once we got to the restaurant near the top we started hiking in the forest and got lost very quickly. Luckily, we found the right way and also found Cassia, Maxwell, and Mario, who also happened to get lost. Once we made it to the top, we signed a book, putting our finish time. Caitlin was the 23rd person to finish the hike, I was the 24th person to finish the hike, and Mason was the 25th person to finish the hike. On our way back to the restaurant, we saw Nat getting a smoothie, and we ran into Lexi. Most of the group meets up on the way back down to the beach. I spent my walk down talking to my family, love you guys. When we got down to the beach, Cassia, Mason, Caitlin, Maxwell, Nat, Brielle, Mario, Orion, and I all ordered burgers.
After that, we all went shopping for both food and souvenirs. I ran into Gigi and Adrienne shopping for snacks. We got back to the boats at 1:40 ish and started sailing to Sandy Keys to have a sandcastle-building competition against other boats. We turned Mario into a mermaid, but sadly, we did not win. Then we sailed to Sidney’s peace and love for the second-to-last BBQ. We joined a giant raft with six other boats and got ready for the night. There were a few stores, and I think everyone on our boat got something. There was yummy food, ice cream, and a DJ. Everyone had a great time.
