British Virgin Islands - 2024, Session 2

Meet the Team

Location: West End, Tortola

Welcome to Meow or Never Session 2! The AQ staff has been working hard over the last several weeks to prepare for students’ arrival. Meet the team that will be onboard for the next three weeks!

MaLahku- Skipper
Malahku was born on the island paradise of Bermuda, where his passion for adventure sparked at a young age. He hails from a lineage of fishermen, seasoned sailors, and boatbuilders and inherited a deep-rooted connection to the sea. With the shimmering waters as his playground, MaLahku found excitement in activities ranging from freediving, cliff jumping, and sailing. After studying in the UK, MaLahku enrolled in the Endeavour Springboard Program and attained certifications such as Dinghy Instructor, Powerboat Level 2, and SRC Radio Course, among others. He became a sailing instructor, nurturing the next generation of Bermudian seafarers. MaLahku has also been a First Mate aboard charter catamarans and completed his Yachtmaster Offshore Certification during a rigorous 4-month program at UKSA.

Mia- Medic/mate
Mia grew up on the water in Marblehead, Massachusetts. She currently attends Tulane University, where she studies marine biology. Last fall, she participated in a Seamester voyage from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean! Mia used to be a sailing instructor at a summer camp in New Hampshire! She has loved living in the BVI this summer and cannot wait to meet all the students.

Tony- Dive Instructor
Anthony started his journey with GXG as a student with ActionQuest, where he fell in love with the lifestyle and the people he was surrounded by. After a short 21 days, Anthony knew he wanted to continue sailing and scuba diving. While attending ActionQuest, he saw S/Y Argo on the horizon and was told about Seamester by his skipper, Jake. He went on to spend three of the best months of his life onboard S/Y Velai. The trip opened his eyes to a whole new way of living, and he knew he couldn’t stop there, so he went to Key Largo, FL, where he spent several weeks gaining knowledge and training to become a PADI Scuba Instructor. Anthony is super excited to pass on the knowledge and experiences he had to the students at AQ this summer!

We can’t wait to get this session started and looking forward to meeting our students!
