Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
We did a ton of diving today. At 8, we headed over to Meow or Never to complete more of our confined dive skills. We stayed on the boat and made bracelets and other things out of rope. Then, we relocated to our first dive stop, called Mountain Point. To refuel, we had some ramen for lunch. Then we split up into our dive groups to embark on our first open water dive! We practiced a five-point descent and several skills underwater, such as how to deal with a partially flooded mask and retrieve a missing regulator. Once we had completed these skills, we were able to enjoy a fun dive while being led by Divemasters. Other than the beautiful coral reef, there were many different kinds of aquatic life, including tarp0n, angel fish, and stingrays. After the dive was over, we did a safety stop at 15 feet and completed a five-point ascend. Once we successfully exited the water and put our gear away, we were able to relax on Meow until it was time to take our final written exam for the dive course. After that stressful endeavor, we napped again until we were picked up to go back to Beso. We were all really happy to be back on our own boat. We took ocean showers and had a makeshift Thanksgiving dinner. It was pretty good. Tonight, we are having a sail chat to make up for all the diving we did today.
