Location: Marina Cay
Hi! My name is Chase, and I’m skipper of the day. Today started with a slow morning, where we got a view of our counselors, James, Arden, and Tony, waterskiing during our cereal breakfast. We ran out of water early in the day, but Topher (previously known as Forbes) led a quick sail to Leverick Bay, where we filled up, leaving us ready to start the day. On the way to Leverick, we sailed through the cow’s mouth, which is notorious for its shallow waters. Today was a sail training day, where we rotated 12 people between 6 jobs. This left a rotation, giving us all lots of time to learn how to operate the sailboat partially on our own and, more importantly, built-in rest time. This was minimally filled by Jack from Tennessee, explaining racing starts with sailing to the group but mostly with naps. We stopped for lunch at a mooring ball at Seal Dog, a view only beaten by West Dog, which we visited a few days ago. Evelyn and Lu provided us with bread, peanut butter, and jelly, which unfortunately turned into burger buns, peanut butter, and jelly near the end. We then took a swim, where Oscar and Harrison snorkeled the area. When we got out, Topher, Caroline, Thea, Lou Lou, Lyla, and I lay outside tanning and reading. After a short cleanup of the boat, Topher, along with Arden and James, sailed us to Scrub right under Tortola Airport while the rest of us took naps. We sailed wing on wing, which can only happen when sailing down the win. The headsail is on a starboard tack, while the main sail is on the opposite tack, a port tack. After some downtime during the chill sail, we took showers. We all enjoyed a Tortellini and Marianna dinner with Garlic bread with a beautiful backdrop of the sunset and the unparalleled BVI landscape. We blasted music during cleanup (as always) and danced while we did the dishes and cleaned the floors. To my mom, dad, siblings, and everyone else I care about, I love you and miss you all so much, and can’t wait to hear from you all soon. Bye!!
