Day four for the Nomada Caribena crew was an exciting accumulation of various adventures! At five in the morning, we awoke to the sound of a surprise simulated rescue dive for our three dive masters, Georgia, Ned, and Lauren. Georgia and Lauren promptly jumped overboard in their pajamas off the bow and swam out to rescue one of the crew members who had pretended to be an unresponsive diver while Ned proceeded to take down his hammock. After the rescue, we started our main activity for the day, which included a rotation of various activities on the other ActionQuest boats. First, we went over to another boat and used the paddle boards. It was super fun, especially when we had a standing competition to see who could stay on the board while fighting to get another person off. The winner of the competition was Maude, who surprised us with her extremely competitive spirit and calculated strategies to knock people off, while Lucas and Harry made everyone laugh with their battle. After that, we rotated to another boat, where we tried various water sports, including wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and water skiing! Everyone had a super fun time, especially Aubrey and Lana in kneeboarding, Stella wakeboarding, and Issy, who succeeded in water skiing for the first time by adapting what she calls “butt skiing”. Next, we learned how to tie various boat knots and had an exciting competition to see which team could tie them the fastest. Towards the end of that rotation, Maude tied the rope around her while Kate held her over the boat. She then accidentally dropped her into the water, giving everyone a good laugh. Lastly, we learned to dive in groups while the dive masters assisted us. We ended the night by sharing our favorite parts of the day and all dancing to “the wobble”. Overall it was a super fun and interesting day where we all tried a new activity and promptly grew closer as a group!
