Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

Though it may not seem like it, day five was more laid-back than most (thankfully!). We sailed on Zest boats, paddle boarded, learned about navigation, waterskied, wakeboarded, and basked in the sun to our heart’s contents. Harry, is loving the Caribbean sun. Lucas educated us all on the great sport of monster truck derby, Lana especially loved hanging out aboard Odyssey, and Georgia is THRILLED to be out of the dishy pit. Our lovely and ever-hardworking DMs (Georgia, Ned, and Lauren) assisted nearly 50 shippies in their scuba exploration by teaching alongside instructors. Kate decked out our room by laying one of her old towels out on the floor (she insists it’s a rug), Stella loved wakeboarding, and fair Issy discovered that she officially has a tan!! Aubrey survived another day of dive training despite Kate laughing uncontrollably at her valiant struggles: Garrison has developed an uncanny ability to articulately yell at them underwater. While Stich, Sela, and I were dropping anchor, a capella rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner emanated from the galley (we were never given context for the ear-splitting rendition, but such behavior is commonplace here). Avery and I continued to be a force to be reckoned with in scuba class: we learned how to tow an incapacitated diver, became acclimated with breathing through a “free-flowing” or malfunctioning regulator, and saw some very cute fish. Ned, the chef of the day, sadly failed to rise to the occasion for our dessert. Kate, his sous-chef, despite doing all she could to save it, was unsuccessful. The duo was tasked with making dessert biscuits but served us something far more sinister… Imagine eating a damp tire with cinnamon on it: I feel that that is an adequate description. We were also briefly attacked by birds, but fortunately, there were no casualties. We are now getting ready for Sail Chat, where we will learn all there is to know about sailing the beautiful BVIs. Today was definitely a good day.
