Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Today started with an early 4 am sail to Salt Island to prepare for the infamous Rhone Day. As the dive boat, we are responsible for all the diving equipment as different boats come aboard. Before diving, Gary led an intense and interactive retelling of the shipwreck as Tony poured water everywhere. Caroline and Thea were speedy setting up their tanks and were the first ones in the water. Instead of our normal diving instructors, we were led by the campers becoming Divemasters. My group was Chase, LJ, and I, but my ears wouldn’t equalize, so I had to return to the boat :(. Emilia and Andrew also had ear problems, but Emilia was able to go back down during the staff dive! In between dives, there was an EDM dance party that Caroline, Corn, and I were very active in, and snorkeling took an unexpected turn when Brodie, LJ, Greyson, and I gave strangers with thick southern accents a tour of the Rhone from above. Next, we dinghied over to Salt Island for a hike, but Sloane and Sophia stayed behind to hide from the intense BVI sun. While on the hike, Tony led a serene and peaceful meditation session overlooking the cliffs and the waves crashing over reefs. We finished the day by taking our Sailing and VHF tests as we sailed back to the Bight and had yummy broccoli cheddar pasta with Pancakes (a substitute for biscuits) for dinner. Shoutout to Corn and I’s older sisters, who both turn 18 today!
