Location: West End, Tortola
Today was the last day of camp! Everyone is disappointed to go home but happy we got to spend so much time here. We started off with oatmeal while I went to a skipper’s meeting to discuss the upcoming race. When I got back, our boat headed to the starting line. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it in time, and the race began, but we were still a few hundred feet away. With Andrew D starting on the helm and everyone helping out, we managed to pull out our genoa very quickly and make up some space. Brodie worked on the travelers. Halfway through the race, Jack H and Chase helped to execute a perfect tack, and we made up four places. After that, I steered us to the end for a finish in 8th place. Next, we motored to West End, where we started. We had to deep clean the boat so we could return it to the rental company. We worked for a few hours while Garrison grabbed us all pizzas for lunch. Emilia brought water up in a bucket while Corn scrubbed, and Lyla used bleach spray around the hard top. We then finally went out on land. We all got lunch while Sloane and Sofia found a free pizza. Then we got our phones for a half hour and squeezed. Thea shared a really nice story about herself and Emilia. We finally went to the BBQ and listened to one of Mike’s speeches to end the day. It’s the last night, so everyone is trying to stay awake.
