Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Hey, y’all, it’s Parker. Today, we did a whole lot, so there was no time to nap :(. We woke up at 7, and we made cinnamon cake (because we ran out of muffins), fried eggs, and some of the coffee that we bought on shore. I sailed, but Lordan had to help me because sailing in a straight line was a little bit too tricky for me. It ended up pouring, and everyone ran inside, but it was kind of fun to just sail in the rain. There was a full rainbow at the end as well! Then, we anchored to complete our last navigation dive. I was partners with Lexi, and we finished the obstacle course first! Everyone got attacked by baby jellyfish, but at least we all passed.
Well, almost everyone, including Nathan, Catalina, and Jayden, has to make it up. Their ears don’t feel great, but they’re all doing ok, just resting as a precaution. After the successful dive, Jayden and Wesley cooked us Tuscan bean soup. I cut a mango, Alana had Nutella saltines, and some of us had PB&Js as well. Then, scenarios! We did rescue session five, getting people out of the water onto the boat. It was a little awkward, not gonna lie, but at least we can save people. Then we combined all our skills by finding an unresponsive diver, taking off their bcd and other equipment, giving them rescue breathes, and getting them out of the water.
Everyone did really well, but holy, it was a lot of work. After that, we took the dinghy over to the beach to do beach exits. We did a drag and fireman’s tow. After we practiced for a while, we did a race to see who was the best. Of course, the Picketts, Hudson, and Lordan won, but Lexi and I were close. We got to hang out at the beach for a little bit as a reward for doing 4 hours of rescue skills. We then came back to the boat to swim. The girls played with the flamingo float, Felicia, while the guys sat and talked. Then Alana, Eve, Tate, and Tyler ate a really tart grapefruit, which ended up in a mini food fight. We all sat together and hung out for a while. Now, we are all getting ready to go to the dive side BBQ. We get to hang out with all the other boats and play football with everyone. The guys are very excited. Then, after the BBQ, we get to come home for freshwater showers!! It was a really fun day, but we are going to sleep well tonight.
