Location: West End, Tortola

We woke up around 7 to start our day. Annika and Roman left at the crack of dawn (6 am) with some other people from other boats to go to the clinic. We all had a quick breakfast of cereal, and then Campbell, the skipper of the day, and Max headed to the skipper meeting to get prepped and ready for our first race of the day against eight other boats. After the skipper meeting, Campbell explained the game plan to the rest of the boat, and we all separated to get ready for the race. We were all super excited and eager to win and just get out racing with friendly competition from the other boats. After prepping and putting our main sail up, we lined up on the start line with Jackson on our helm. We had an amazing start off the line, with Peter and Leonie getting our jibe out insanely fast.!! We took 5th place right after the start of the race, but with Jackson and the rest of the crew, we easily passed Quest, Beso, and Friendship to put us in second place!! Peter did an amazing job with the jibe winch. We finished the race in a close second behind Mango Tango. We were all so proud of ourselves for beating the other lagoon boats and almost winning! We then docked in West End for some shore time and water refill. The group hopped off the boat and headed to get brunch at Omar’s coffee house. Julia got the most delicious-looking avocado bagel, and Zoe was so satisfied to finally get some coffee. Elsa also had the best chocolate chip cookie she has ever had. After brunch, we shopped around for souvenirs and groceries and just hung out with each other.

At 12:30, everyone went back on the boat. Well, there was another skipper meeting for the final race today. We prepped for our race, but this time only with seven boats, and put on hype music to get ready for the larger race of today. With Roman at the helm and Leonie and Andrew on the winches, we started the race pretty close to the other boats. However, Nomada, Hope, and Odyssey pulled ahead. With some good steering and great teamwork, Roman pulled us ahead of Odyssey and right next to Nomada! Annika played some awesome hype music and lead us to a dance party, and Zoe and Campbell really carried the vibe. Sadie and Carly were super invested in their books during this race.

We raced for about 3 hours and finished the race in 4th but still beat all the other lagoon boats!! We anchored next to Nomada, with Carly doing her best talent, pressing the anchor buttoning. We swam around and showered to get ready for dinner tonight, which was Mexican Night!! Jackson and Andrew cooked us an AMAZING meal that consisted of build-your-own tacos, beans, and rice!! We had a special guest over for dinner, Jake!! We all indulged in one of our favorite meals, and all went back for seconds and thirds! For dessert, Emilia and Elsa baked us some delicious victory brownies to close out our race day!!
