British Virgin Islands - 2023, Session 2

Arrival Day!

Location: West End, Tortola

Welcome to the good ship Avizia!

Our anticipation has never been greater. We have been working tirelessly to get our boat ready for arrival. From stocking the boat with food, filling our library with learning materials, and getting to know one another as staff, we are ready to hit the water. We can't wait to share this amazing experience with you all!

A little about your staff

Your courageous skipper Max!

Max could not be more excited to return for his third summer as staff. He spent the last year earning his Yachtmaster and is ready to share his new knowledge with students. Max is studying design and business at Colorado College while he is not on the water. In Colorado, he enjoys exploring the backcountry on his skis and bike. Some of his favorite memories as a staff member and when he was a student are the camp barbecues.

Your cunning dive instructor Amanda!

Amanda grew up in Rye Brook, New York, right outside the city. She fell in love with the ocean from a young age while snorkeling on family trips to St. John, USVI, where she eventually got scuba certified with her whole family. Since the beginning, Amanda developed a passion for being underwater and knew it was something she wanted to pursue. She spent many incredible summers as a student with AQ since 2016 and earned her Open Water Scuba Instructor certification in 2022. She learned a lot through her summers with AQ and is beyond excited to share this knowledge with students of her own! Outside of AQ, Amanda is currently pursuing a Marine Biology and Ecology degree at the University of Miami. She loves Miami but is beyond excited to return to the BVI's for another life-changing summer with ActionQuest! Her main goal is to keep the stoke levels high and create a life-activating experience for her students as her staff did for her.

Your dedicated Mate and medic, Annika!

Annika was born outside Las Vegas but has lived all around the US. She first started sailing and diving aboard S/Y Vela in the Spring of 2022. Annika attends school at Loyola Marymount University in Southern California, studying Psychology and Environmental Studies, and is thrilled to live closer to the ocean! She most recently worked with Freedom Boat Club, outfitting and maintaining various boats. Annika is also an avid diver; her favorite sea creature is a sea slug. She also enjoys rock climbing, surfing, soccer, and learning new things!
