This morning we woke up for the very last time on the open water. Today was race day so we had to get ready! I headed over for the skippers meeting to get a briefing for the race and by the time I returned to the boat, my shipmates had gotten Bella race ready and off we went to the starting line. We were behind a few boats in the beginning but then we got a good angle and started getting to the front of the fleet of nine other boats. We passed our fellow Minerva shipmates on Wind Shadow and then we were in the lead! We managed to tack well enough to keep us in the lead but Wind Shadow was quickly approaching behind us. Gabe, who was on the helm the whole race managed to push through and make it pass the final buoy before Wind Shadow so we won! The race was really fun and everyone was really excited that we won. After we finish our final thorough boat clean, we will eat a delicious lunch of pizza, and get ready for our final barbecue and last night together on the dock. Today was the perfect last day to such a fun trip and a day we will all remember. After sailing around 450 miles the past 20 days, we have all learned so much and loved sailing so much. I can’t believe tomorrow we have to say goodbye!
