Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola

Today was the start of the new job cycle, so I am (Aussie Tyler) skipper again! We woke up at Summers Beach and had some oatmeal (porridge). I got to take the helm and drove us all the way to Brewers Bay, where we attempted to tag turtles. We tied lines to the back of the dinghy so we could have four people holding on to them and getting dragged around trying to find them underwater, and although we saw five, we didn’t end up catching any to tag. We did have an abundance of jellyfish, though, and Moorea, Alexis, Brian, Kyler, and Dylan had a close encounter! The second and third groups almost caught a few, with Anna having it in her hands, but it got away. The Dolphins went on a research dive where Alli, Zach, and I gathered more data for our ongoing research papers. We were hit by a squall where we (me, Zach, Caleb, and Jack) danced in the rain screaming Purple Rain at the top of our lungs, and Joe taught us bachata with Jack as his dance partner. We sailed to Sydney and power stance all the way into the harbor showing our dominance to the rest of the Action Quest fleet. We stocked up on water and moved on to a delicious Thai red curry cooked by Tyler (US Tyler) and Scarlett. We finished the day with our nightly squeeze, where we told our highs, lows, appreciations, and our question, “If you could buy one thing when we go on land tomorrow, what would it be”; there were answers ranging from blocks of chocolate to a six-story houseboat with a helicopter (Caleb was thinking very big). We’re currently playing UNO while I am writing this and planning on staying up late for Caleb’s birthday tonight (PS, no one’s getting him that yacht).
