Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Today, we woke up later than usual, at eight o’clock. The staff went to a morning meeting, and we made, ate, and cleaned our breakfast of cereal before they got back. Then, we went underway to The Playgrounds for our first dive of the day. The Dolphins had their final official research dive, and the Neptunes had a fun dive. The Neptunes Katie, Parker, Maya, and Mason were excited because they saw a baby lionfish, a cobia, a large octopus, and three reef sharks. Team Plummage being Paloma, Lucy, Jasper, and I saw a spotted moray eel and a pea-sized baby trunkfish. Lunch was chicken salad wraps, and afterward, we had a little downtime where the Dolphins worked on their research projects. For our second dive, the Neptunes decided to moon dive, which means diving without fins, and the Dolphins hopped back into a dinghy to dive into The Playgrounds again. Team Plummage saw a large barracuda, a porcupine fish, two baby golden tail moray eels, and five huge lionfish. The other Dolphin group, Reese, Sean, Will, and Malea, saw a lot of small pufferfish and a peacock flounder. After dinner, the squeeze was screaming at a nearby AQ boat, which ended up causing multiple other boats to scream back, which was fun.
