Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke
Today, we woke up an hour earlier than usual at 6 am. We were anchored at Cane Garden Bay, a place between green mountains and a beautiful beach. We had cereal for breakfast and then got ready for hike day. Then, we all got our phones for the morning so we could contact people in case we got lost on the hike. After we were all ready, we got on the dinghy and off to the dock. There, Mike gave us instructions and safety measures, and we began the hike. The beginning was very steep. I hiked up with Maya, Sean, Malea, Lucy, and Jasper. I didn’t want to stop for breaks along the way, but they made me. After two hours of hiking with an incredible view, we made it up. Will had already made it up and was the third up overall. We made it into the top thirties. After that, we met with Megan, Reese, Will, and Katie at a shop where they were having smoothies. We then left and made our way down again, enjoying the stunning view. On the way down, Megan picked up a lot of trash to help the environment. When we arrived at the beach, we were all really hungry and went straight to lunch. I got a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and a Diet Coke, Maya got fish and chips with a Dr. Pepper, Malea had a veggie burger, Lucy had a chicken salad, Megan had a burger and a piña Colada, Sean had a Caesar salad, and Jasper had BBQ chicken wings. The food was really good.
After that, we explored the beach and the gift shops around the corner and then returned to the boat. Then we sailed to Sandy Cay, a beautiful beach with white sand and clear water. There, we had a sand castle-building contest. Reese, Maya, Malea, and Jasper built a very realistic toilet out of sand. Meanwhile, Parker, Sean, and Will participated in the making of a giant hole. We had a lot of fun at the beach and then returned to the boat. Then we had ocean showers and got ready for a BBQ we have tonight at a place called Sidney’s. Right now, it is raining, and we are almost ready to go to the BBQ. Overall, it was a really good day, and it is about to get better.
