Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
To start the morning, Louise, Emily, Mac, and I were woken up on the deck due to rain splashing on our faces and sleepy sacks, causing us to go inside at 5 AM. Around 7, the whole boat was ready to start breakfast and a long day of rotation activities. After eating our bagels and yogurt, we headed out to a small hike where Koko somehow managed to hug a cactus (she’s okay). Our legs were all dying as we went up. There were so many stairs! The hike was cool, with nice views of all of the boats, but it was no one’s highlight of the day. Once we got back to the boat, we took a swim and went straight to water skiing. Niko taught Mac and me how to do 360s on the kneeboard, and Mac was able to do 10 in a row! On the other boat, Abby was able to get up on one ski, and slalom-she was even able to touch the water with one hand. After this, we came back to the boat and ate chicken wraps for lunch. We then had a tortilla slap challenge where we would hit each other with the leftover tortillas while we had water in our mouths to see who would laugh first (my face and Louise’s were very red). We took another swim after cleanup, and the whole boat learned how to do different dives off of the stern. Shortly afterward, we all hopped on the dinghy and headed to Highlander to get our gear on for scuba. This was our 3rd Open Water Dive, and we completed our final exercises while looking at the different sea animals. Patrick was able to create bubble rings underwater using the bubbles from our regulators.
Once we were finished with our dive, we backflipped off of the dinghy. Henry attempted many times to do a side flip off of the boat, called a gainer. Shortly after, we took a dinghy to Odyssey, where we paddleboarded. We swam around, picked up snacks from Sham Wari, and got flipped over by a counselor on Odyssey. Once we were finished, it started to rain, and we were stranded on Odyssey for a little bit. Once we got back, we ate dinner around 5:30 PM, which was chili and rice. After dinner, Aleks tried to get water to wash the deck but somehow lost the decky bucket and flopped into the water (this was after showers). We ended the day by playing the president in the power tower, and Papatrick said this was the best day.
