Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Hello everyone, I am Ella, and the skipper of the day! Today was our first full day on “Odyssey,” our boat. We started it off with a solid cereal breakfast before being briefed by Mike (ActionQuest Director). We pulled off the dock around 12 today and got to experience our first sail on the boat. While we were underway, Evie, Sipora, Sophia, Makena, Ellie, Henry, Miles, and I got splashed on the front of the boat while encountering some of the first waves of the trip. We got to the caves at Norman Island around 3, and after dropping anchor, we finally got to go into the water. It was so refreshing. During this time, we did the swim test and swam four laps around the boat. While doing the test, we passed three sting rays and several starfish. We also had to tread water for 10 minutes and learn fun facts about each other. Ben shared that he went helicopter skiing, and Jack said he was a soccer player. All of us got to go snorkeling in the caves and see all of the sea life. When we got back on the boat, Owen and Sipora cooked sloppy joes for dinner, and Robert was the first to start his ocean shower. We ended the day with “Squeeze,” a tradition on ActionQuest where we shared our appreciation for the day and answered a question asked by the skipper. The question everyone answered tonight was, “If the person next to you was a color, what color would they be?”. We are excited about our first dive chat tonight and sleeping on the ship’s deck.
