Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke

The whole crew got up early this morning, about 5:30, to get ready for the hike to Mount Sage, which is the tallest point in the BVI. We started at the bottom of Canes Garden Bay, Tortola, and began hiking up a basically vertical hill. The first hill out of the bay was definitely the worst. Everyone was complaining. After that, though, the hills weren’t as bad. At the top, there was a gift shop with amazing banana smoothies and an awesome view. Magnus was the second person to the top of Mount Sage, and Cameron was sixth. On the way back down, Eli blasted music from Pirates of the Caribbean and sprinted down the road. Everyone was exhausted and hungry when we returned to Canes Garden Bay. The restaurants along the water were packed with kids. Sloane and I ate together and had Shirley Temples. Afterward, we met back on the docks and were driven back to the boats. Back on the boat, we headed out to Sandy Cay, which is just a tiny little beach island. All the boats from Sail Side participated in a Sand Castle competition. Eli, Finn, and Vaughn betrayed our team and joined Beso, another boat. While Cameron, Jada, Chase, and Emily finished up our castle, Ellory, Amy, and I went into the ocean.

Ellory and I played colors and dunked each other in the ocean. Beso won the competition because they made a huge hole that was five feet deep and sang the National Anthem guided by Tony. When that was done, we took saltwater showers. Sloane and Chase left PFDs in the galley (kitchen), and as a punishment, they had to wear the Titanic life jackets. Then, we sailed to Jost Van Dyke to go to the beach barbecue at Sidney’s. There was music, good food, and a gift shop. A big thunderstorm passed through while this happened. By the end of the night, we were all exhausted and headed back home to bed.
