Location: Leverick Bay Marina
Today we woke bright and early at 6:30 am to the smell of delicious French toast cooked by our favorite Canadian, Josh. While we munched on the food, we started to get excited for our first search and recovery dive (technically, Chloe and I’s second due to our recovery of Daisy’s GoPro yesterday). Our dive ended up taking longer than expected, with Matt’s total bottom time being 103 minutes to give all the groups time to go through. Underwater we were tested on our knot-tying skills and practiced searching patterns to find a small blue weight and a 25-pound kettlebell, which we used a lift bag to raise. Because we were all underwater for longer than expected, I took off my fins while waiting in line for the knot-tying test and ran a few laps on the sand.
After the dive, we motored over to Leverick Bay for an early lunch on shore. On the ride over, Edward had a fantastic nap. Daisy and I split a margarita pizza which was busting. When it came time to pay the bill, we realized that it was not split 11 ways, so we spent about 20 mins figuring out how to pay in cash for all of our meals.
When we returned to the boat, we got our phones for a bit and then moved to the anchorage nearby. There we did our CPR and secondary care practicals with special guest Jayna from Good Times. We did girls vs. boys competition on who could do cpr the longest, which ended up being lifeguard KK vs. Teddy. Unfortunately, KK was cut off at 15 minutes due to the stations being rotated, so Teddy won out of default because he was able to perform CPR for 40 minutes with no interruptions. To keep his spirits high while doing this great feat, Teddy recited Shakespeare and inspirational speeches, and Lainey poured some water on him to cool him off.
At 4:30 sharp, we began to primp for the barbecue, the girls doing their makeup in the cockpit using Lainey’s eyeshadow palette as the sole mirror. Then we took some pics of Lainey’s camera. James bought us all some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream to share. At 6:30, we headed over to the barbecue, and Lainey, Daisy, Anzie, and I sprinted over to the buffet line only to find it opened at 7. Daisy and Anzie gave up, but Lainey and I stayed strong, waiting for 30 mins to be first in line for food. After eating our burgers and hotdogs (and tacos for gluten-free Chloe), we headed to the dance floor. Ozzie and Lainey attempted the limbo competition but unfortunately lost to a 4’11 13-year-old (as expected). We quickly tired out and yearned to fall asleep on our faithful boat. Papa Matt picked us up and fulfilled our dreams of sleep, and we all hit the hay immediately. Good night.
