Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda

Believe it or not, we woke up this morning, at approximately 7:00 am, to the both whimsical and enlightening lyrical genius in the SpongeBob musical opening number. We were slow to get ready, enjoying the comfort of our makeshift beds atop this floating piece of metal, drifting through the British Virgin Islands. Breakfast was simple: uncooked bagels for some, and for those who were willing to wait, toasted bagels. Personally, I don’t like uncooked bagels, but I did not want to wait, so I grabbed myself a yogurt, which was the correct move in my opinion. Today was a rotation day, meaning that we were split into our dive groups, advanced open water, the one I and the majority of the boat is in, and open water. The open water started the day off with a hike, while the advanced open water started with water skiing; only two of us actually went, while the rest stayed and tanned. The hike was said to be light and easy by the open water gang.

The second thing we did was a fish ID dive where we, you guessed it, identified fish. Amelia and Carla kept running into jellyfish. Griffin seemed to be the only student who dived where nothing went wrong for him. We went around a wreck looking for cool fish to draw on our waterproof notepads. As for the open water group, they were water skiing and chilling on the boat. Lucy managed to stay on the wakeboard for 20 minutes. Then it was time for lunch, grilled cheese. The thing 90% of us were waiting for all day. We each were allowed to get two whole sandwiches, which, as of writing, is the most food I’ve eaten all day. The grilled cheese was so good that many of us are still raving about it to this moment. The advanced open water group was then sent to Oryx to Zest and paddleboard. Holden went out alone and didn’t falter once, managing a whole mini boat by himself. Carla and Amelia did not have the same luck, as their boat was flipped completely over by 180 degrees multiple times in an attempt to hit me with the zest.

On the other hand, the open water gang went diving, and Mathilda and Jack saw a sting ray in the sand. The advanced group went on the light and easy hike next, spoiler, we were lied to. I kept getting hit by trees and cacti, the sandals I wore because it was supposed to be easy kept making me almost trip. Everyone else was having fun, though, maybe it was just my problem. The open water gang went paddleboarding and zesting, and Sloane said that she had a good time. We are now getting ready to eat tacos! So imma have to sign out.
