Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Early this morning, me (Emily), Jada, and Sloane woke up to the sunrise on the horizon and birds chirping from the neighboring island. After breakfast and the overall camp meeting, our boat left the dock, which was a relief and an escape from the sweaty ports. During our sail to Norman Island, we encountered some rain as we were all lying on the trampoline, which Ellory, Magnus, Eli, and Cameron claimed was their favorite part of the day. By the way, the trampoline is a net at the bow of the boat that is very enjoyable to lay on during the day and sleep on at night. When we arrived at the island, prior to taking our swim test, our chef, Chase, and our sous chef, Sloane, crafted some deli sandwiches for the boat. After finishing lunch, we took our swim test of six laps around the boat and a ten-minute tread in the water. After our swim test, we continued to swim with the fish and then sunbathe on the trampoline. As Amy enjoyed watching a barracuda from the boat, Eli and Cameron spotted some of the fish underwater. Back on the boat after our test, Breckyn generously shared her watermelon sour patch kids with all of us on the boat and with some small talk on the side. Around 4 o’clock, we all hopped on a dingy and headed towards another boat, which we would jump off of to snorkel. As we snorkeled the caves, we spotted many fish and some large coral. Vaughn had a slight issue with his snorkel but was persistent and determined to venture into the caves and spot some fish. After snorkeling, we headed back to our boat to take refreshing saltwater showers, where we would jump into the water, scrub off, and then jump in again. After our showers, during the golden hour of the sunset, our trusty photographer, Finn, helped us take some group photos during the sunset. We finished the night off with sloppy joes for dinner and scuba diving work.
