Location: Passage to BVI

To start off our last day in St. Barths, I woke up a bit earlier than the students to make some cinnamon sugar muffins. They woke up to the delicious smell of the muffins finishing up in the oven and Davis playing music. Once everyone was up and the muffins had been devoured, we challenged the students to fully prepare the boat for our sail training day ahead of us. This included 40/40 the boat and getting the main sail up. At this point in the trip, they were able to do this with ease. After the sails were raised, we slipped our mooring ball and headed out to the bit of ocean between St. Barths and the island off of it called Ile Fourchue. The sail training today consisted of having every student be on the helm during a practice man-over-board situation, where we would throw a fender in the water and perform a figure 8 rescue pattern, and also being on the helm during a Jibe. Every student did awesomely and proved to Davis and me all the practical sailing knowledge they had acquired throughout the trip. After every student excelled at their sail practical, we moored the boat off of Ile Fourche. Here, we ate lunch (Mac and Cheese) and had lots of opportunities to go swimming. Around 4 pm, we got the boat ready for our last passage and started cooking our dinner of chili and rice. Passage started around 5 pm, and we started out by heading towards Saba before Jibing the boat to head with good wind directly at Virgin Gorda in the BVI’s. This passage was filled with lots of karaoke, laughs, and stories of the trip, and we also wrote our own mad libs story about our entire trip. For the Mad libs, the watch team who was up had to write a portion of the story with the blanks, and then the next watch team filled in the blanks and read the last two sentences before they wrote the next portion. Ok, I am gonna leave today off there and let Theo tell the rest of the passage story in the blog for day 18!
