Location: Nevis
Hi everyone! This is Scarlett writing from Different Drummer. We had a spirited and very eventful day. We started off our first day in Nevis with a yummy breakfast made by Sadie and Orly where we saw a beautiful rainbow that we used as our motivation to clean the boat. As we all shuttled to our designated activities for the day, we sang Moana. When our dingy made it to land we met our beautiful taxi driver who gave us a detailed guide of Nevis. I was in the kayaking group with Sadie, Evan, Roman, Andrew, Peyton, and Orly. While the rest of the boat went to horseback riding. Our group kayaked out to a beautiful spot near a cliff and free-dived to see all the coral and marine life. Roman and I tried our best to find a Lobster and were very unlucky. We then thought it would be a good idea to tie all of our Kayaks together, but in the end, we paddled back apart. Sadie and I were last to make it back to the beach because we were prioritizing quality over quantity with our strokes. Our group played in the ocean and saw a unique starfish. We then made our way back to our boat, where we met up with the horseback riding group. We heard about their adventure with horses going DEEP into the water, and Will’s horse decided to take him through branches and leaves and got a “face full of leaves,” which we all thought was hilarious. Our chefs made some delightful grilled cheese, and after lunch, the girls put on a fashion show, deciding what our outfits would be for the night’s BBQ, which was pretty funny. Evan Roman Sadie and I made our way to meet up with the other Minerva boat at the beach, where we met a couple of the local kids and played funny games while exchanging stories. Once we got back from the beach, we took our well-needed ocean shower and got ready for the BBQ. We had a little photo shoot and then shuttled over to Sunshine Bar and Grill. The food was absolutely amazing, the we all gobbled it up. We all signed our names on the walls and shared Virgin daiquiris. Now, I’m hurrying up to write this blog while we’re catching up on the night. Overall we had a really great day and were all feeling super excited for the rest of our adventure!
