Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
The day started off with a slight betrayal when Zane and Millie helped the Odyssey crewmembers tie up all of our lines, which was an attempt to break the spirits of Beso del Viento- but we are strong, and we will get them back in the near future. After that, we ate underway as we left Savannah Bay and headed over to The Dogs, where the Open Water students had their first real, non-confined dive, where they saw a variety of aquatic tropical life within the natural coral reefs of the BVI. The Advanced students did their first fish ID dive! Some of us saw a nurse shark, and the Advanced dove the Shark Planes. After that, we enjoyed the sun from the hardtop of the boat and learned how to make these anklets called Turkhead with Claire. The open water students did their exam today, too!
Later on in the day, we moved back to Mountain Point, and Lizzy and Oliver worked on creating some Mexican cuisine for dinner. After our meal, we took a moment to appreciate the radiant sunset in front of us before despairingly realizing that our skipper of the day, Dylan, had lost the camera. We worked as a team to clear away everything before settling into our sail talks for basics and advanced, where we all learned valuable information about how to operate a sailing vessel and the different components of the boat.
