Location: Savannah Bay, Virgin Gorda
Waking up to a beautiful sunrise for day seven was a great start. Walking into the galley to see Eddie and Mirah cooking up a wonderful breakfast was a terrific beginning to the big day ahead of us. At about 9:40, we started off on our journey to Savannah Bay. It was around a 3-4 hour sail. With Lizzy on the helm and Zane, Eden, Millie, and Oliver working the sails, we were headed right for Savannah Bay for the ActionQuest Olympics. We glided our way into the bay at around 1:00 for the Olympics on the beach. We all geared up and got on the dinghy to head to the shore.
We got there, looked around at the teams, and started to hype each other up, getting ready for a tug of war. The teams all gathered in the sand, we planted our feet, and on the go, all of us pulled with all our might until we felt that great success of the tension leaving we had won our first round of the Olympics. The Beso team continued to do two more rounds of a tug-of-war. We won the next one and lost the last, but fortunately, we had two more games to come back. In the next game, we all had to “imitate” a turtle being born and running to the sea. We did this by crawling through our team’s leg tunnel and then spinning around face-down on a boat bumper seven times. The next stage was running into the ocean to a paddle board with counselors on it feeding us raisins, but while running there, we all had to dodge other counselors trying to tackle us to slow our team down. The Beso team ended up getting 3rd in this, but we took this knowing we needed to get first to at least tie. The last and final game was a paddle board war with pool noodles. The different boat teams would go on a paddle board to battle it out till one fell into the water. The team picked Zane to go battle to represent Beso. Once he got up there, he started to hit the other person, but in the end, Zane lost his balance and splashed into the water. So the Beso team ended up placing 3rd place overall, not terrible, not great, but we all had a really good time and were all ready for a good dinner for which Eddie, Mirah, and Ben made an outstanding Caesar salad and risotto. We all ended the night by having a group discussion about something called the forum; we all went around answering various questions given to the group. After all that, personally, I felt like we all learned something new about each other and got closer. I can’t wait to see what day 8 brings the Beso team!
