Location: Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua

Most of us woke up shivering from the blasting air conditioner today. Soon after, oatmeal was prepared by Ellery and Jackson to warm us up. Gearing up in hiking attire, sun protection, and whatever energy we could scrape together at 8:30 AM, we set out. We trekked a relatively short hike leading to an idyllic scene: historic architecture and intricately shaped docks lined the bays in view. Boats of all shapes and sizes sprinkled the water, too. Before the sweet relief of lunch, our two fleets stopped for a brief tour of Nelson’s Dockyard. We learned about the island’s timeline and development before our prompt midday meal. Juni, Evan, and Drake ended up capsizing their “unsinkable ship,” a boat that’s never been dunked before. Twice. This occurred after many successful (and some futile) attempts to sink other sailboats. Walker and his crew caused a ruckus in the water as well. I was so appreciative that Im Im’s skill outmatched anybody’s endeavors at following us.
We ended the night with a lengthy barbecue. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and grilled vegetables were shared amongst everyone. Unfortunately, dishy pit was not as enjoyable. While Tati and the others cleaned up, JJ snuck onto Hagan Time to steal back our lost ramen packages. Though the boat was chilly and the outside sun beat down on us, we were collectively grateful for the unlimited water supply and AC while docking here in Antigua.
