Location: Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua

On the 11th day of our Minerva adventure, we all woke up at around eight on our own, since we got in late last night at 12:30 after our 16-hour sail. The reason it took so long is that our engine kept breaking due to the diesel not being able to pump into it. After we woke up, we cleaned the cabin and deck since it was pretty messy after the sail. Drake found a few flying fish on the deck and a bit of chili, but it was easy to clean. Once we all got situated, we decided to move the boat and dock; this was more than needed due to the lack of diesel and water that the boat had. Once we were docked, we all collected our laundry and walked to the laundry place. Once we got to the laundry place, we dropped it off and decided to try and get sushi for lunch. But the sushi place was closed, so Ellery had the idea that we should just go to this Mexican place that we passed along the way. The Mexican place was really cool, and we all sat down for lunch. JJ described his pork tacos as the best ones he has ever had. But there was only one worker, and it was still pretty early in the day. Evan, Walker, Drake, and Juni all helped the main guy out and helped run the food for everyone since there was only one guy cooking and serving around 20 people. Lunch was extremely fun, even though it was a bit chaotic, and everyone found it to be extremely delicious. After lunch, we went to the grocery store and all stocked up on snacks, since we all ate them during the sail.

We then went souvenir shopping, most people got some sort of t-shirt or hat, Ellery and I got some really cute matching t-shirts. We all made it back to the boat at around three-ish and got ready for the beach Olympics. We walked from the boat to the beach for around 15 minutes, but everyone enjoyed the walk because we saw how pretty Antigua is. At the beach Olympics, we played two games: tug of war and a game called Chicklet Jump against the other boat, Hagan Time. Unfortunately, we lost both… womp womp 😢 and the prize was ice cream that the other boat won. Jackson was the one who was most disappointed about the loss. Once the exciting events we all decided to stay and hangout for awhile at the beach after the events were all wrapped up. Most of the boat forgot about losing because we all could agree that we were all excited for the AC and fresh water showers.

Im, Im, and Mia were probably the ones who were looking forward to it the most, though. But it was something that we could all enjoy since we were docked, and also due to none of us having had the chance to have a freshwater shower in over a week. Drake, Ellery, and JJ all cooked Thanksgiving dinner for us. Dinner was delicious, including JJ’s gravy that was runnier than water. We ended the dinner with squeeze and dishy pit like usual. But tonight is going to be exciting due to the brownies Ellery and Sela are making, along with the forum and The Lorax that we were all looking forward to later. Today was a really fabulous day, and I hope for another great day tomorrow!
