Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Ok, so we started with waking up to setting sail at 5:45 am, but I was dead asleep. We kinda found the blue lagoon broken last night (a couch that turns into a bed), So I had to sleep on the floor of the salon. Not quite sure why, but Nathan sleeps on the salon floor most nights, and if you have a cushion, it’s a genuinely comfortable spot. (AC is a huge plus). After waking up very slowly wayyy too early, we had bagels and yogurt for breakfast. After this long and tiring morning, we headed off to The Baths, a beautiful cluster of rock formations and saltwater that was used to clean slaves before they were sold, hence the name The Baths. When we got back to the boat, we immediately left for Spanish Town. Nathan, Arthur, Gabe, and I went off to get lunch (all while Lainey, Maia, Julia, and Molly were plotting their group plan – I’ll tell you about it later). I got a delicious but expensive Caesar salad, which absolutely hit the spot. Then went off to get ice cream and groceries; Gabriel bought a $3 can of coconut water, which he downed before we even got back to the boat. After that, we set sail again (for the 3rd time), and Emma had an informative sail chat with us directly after I took a very hard nap for around an hour and a half. When we got to our location and set anchor, a jolt of energy filled our bodies. The second we rafted to Shamwari (another boat), Maia, Lainey, Julia, Molly, and I jumped into the water for shower time (my favorite time of the day), and we started a lot of water activities which led to back flips and reapplying soap three times. Gabe attempted to do a backflip on Shamwari’s raft and did a pretty ok job. However, he did get hurt trying to do some other tricks, which I thought were quite impressive. Now back to what I said earlier about the girls plotting – back in Spanish Town, they bought matching pj sets which made them look 12, and they had a dance-off on the hardtop to classic 2000s songs. We then gathered together to eat Sela’s wonderful Beef Stroganoff and perform “Row row row your boat” at everyone’s request. Quite an eventful day, but alas, it’s not over for the advanced sailing students. We have a lesson to go through tonight.
