Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Today we started with a hardy breakfast of eggs, cinnamon toast, and cantaloupe by our chefs Peyton and Kiera. Then we had a briefing on the International Yacht Crew Communications test and took the 3 part test shortly after an hour of last-minute studying. We learned about emergency channels, how to call for help, and how to operate radio machines. Luckily we all passed and will receive our certification soon. After the test, we had an adventure underwater as we scuba-dived 30 feet in a reef in Muskmelon Bay, where we were able to see colorful coral, fish, and even the anchor holding a catamaran in place. After diving, we returned to our monohull and cut my half-cookie, half-brownie birthday cake and sang “Happy Birthday”. Eventually, we found ourselves at the AQ BBQ with hotdogs, hamburgers, music, and fun. We played football, talked to friends on other boats, and had a well-deserved BBQ dinner. Back at the monohull, we shared what we were grateful for today and answered our skipper’s question, “What would you do if you could retire with unlimited money”. To end it all, we played a game where we go around and say one word to make a collective story and then sang happy birthday soo loud that the other boats started singing and cheering after.
