Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today we started the day with an early wake-up, like usual, at 7:00. When I walked upstairs, Scarlett and Rachel were making delicious breakfast burritos and muffins. After breakfast, Evan, Lucy, and Madi worked on the dishy pit. After everyone did their jobs, we all prepared to get our brief for the full day of diving (I’m not joking when I say full day). Then we started our 8 hours of surface skills. The skill that we learned was rescuing unconscious drivers. In the first 4 hours, everyone was very locked in with learning the steps. Scarlett and Red got stung by a jellyfish and took a break, but then came back to thug it out. For lunch, we had grilled cheese, which Mathew was very happy about. Everyone ate them fast, so Humphrey and Roman made more for everyone. Then we got started on the second part of our day, more scenarios! For 4 hours straight, we ran through the same scenario, screaming to the boat to let London know we had an unconscious diver, and then going through a series of steps that we had to lock down and memorize to get our certification. Ruby found a school of tarpon under the boat while Declan had to keep going down to fetch all the dive masks that kept falling. Everyone tried their best, which made it go by way faster. We finally got out of the water, which felt very rewarding. The chefs got started on a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. And we ended the day with a pretty sunset!
