Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola

We started this morning a little damp from a rainy night at Sommers Beach, but the weather cleared up and we got moving quickly. We ate breakfast with a side of pineapple, which Ava thought tasted salty underway, and after a beautiful passage, ended up in Brewers Bay. The vibes were high through our quick first dive, where we navigated using a jackstay pattern. Ash, Aiden, Stella, and I all saw a stingray, which was super cool. Lorelai, Kate, and Maya also took a moment to make up some earlier dives, which they said was a huge relief to get done. When we surfaced, we had an awesome meal of chicken quesadillas, which were prepared by Audrey and Ellery. After we compressed the tanks, it was time for our next dive at Shark Point just off the bay.

Casey and I were buddies on the dive, and as soon as we descended, the entire group saw dolphins a few feet away from us! Talk about amazing… a few minutes later, we were swimming along a reef on a dropoff, and Cameron started banging on his tank – a sea turtle was on the reef too. After we surfaced, we had also seen French angelfish, massive sleeping tarpon, and dozens of parrotfish. It was one of those dives that makes all thankful to be exactly where we are. There aren’t many better feelings than doing what you love. Once we had put our kits away, it was off around the corner to Cane Garden Bay, and on the way, we all took freshwater showers. Once we were on the dock, the boat got some love too – full freshwater tanks, diesel for the compressor and the engines, and a big surprise for us – a bag of ice straight from Mike. After 14 days, the boat was happy to have some cold water. A few minutes later, we were off the dock and on a mooring ball, where we had our dinner of pesto pasta. We baked a cake to celebrate that tonight was movie night, and now we’re getting started watching. It was another great day, in a great place, with great people. Tomorrow is hike day, which is always a rewarding experience. I cannot wait to see what the next day brings. Life is good.
