Location: Marina Cay
For the first time in what felt like an eternity, we were not awoken by the music usually played in the morning. Emma and Jules made us a scrumptious breakfast of scrambled eggs and cinnamon muffins. We then kitted up and made our way down to the Willy T to work on our wreck dive certification. My incredible dive buddy (Maddie) left me for dead with the skeletons. But justice was served after she and Jules tried to drown each other by stealing each other’s regulators (everyone is okay).
Meanwhile, all the dolphins (Teddy, Kiran, Darby, and Emma Y) did their second digital photography dive, where they took pictures of bleached coral to work on their research. Afterward, we set sail to Roadtown. After a short sail, we learned that tanks had to be changed every five years, and we were the lucky group that got to carry it from the boat to the dive shop and back!
Everyone showed their impressive strength, and Kiran and I didn’t even make it halfway before we needed a rescue. After the workout, we hopped on Shaka (our dingy) and got absolutely drenched by an unpredicted rainstorm. We were shuttled to the other side of Roadtown and finally got to stretch our legs and walked around the island. We all had a delicious lunch and shopped there. Emma, Teddy, and Calvin ditched the group to go to the supermarket and buy snacks. Darby wandered off on his own, where he found a spa and took a shower (which we are all very jealous about). At 2:15, we were all sad when we had to go back to the boat. We then had a long sail led by Darby, Alivia, and me to Marina Cay. For dinner today, we had a Thanksgiving meal in which Emma Y added way too much water to the mashed potatoes, and we had to steal some from another boat. Fortunately, Dave and Jules saved the watery mashed potatoes, and we were able to eat double. We are currently anchored here at Marina Key for the night awaiting some sort of color leadership personality test and if we are lucky a movie!
Con Amor,
Lauren
