Hello, my name is Thompson, and I am from Bedford, New York. We woke up to the earliest alarm yet for a 6 am sail. As all normal students got their lifejackets on, our so-called “father of the ship,” named Ollie, prepared us a fancy breakfast of toasted bagels, yogurt, and melon. A quick 30-minute sail ended us up at ‘The Baths.’ It was a cliff-jumping beach where we hiked through rocks to get to the peak. And during so, Grayson partook in a rescue job, and saved someone from a major injury. But on a more exciting note, Hopie landed her first backflip off of a cliff. But after our 2-hour cliff jumping session, Lulu was sick of the sun and was asking Mia when our ride was coming. Mia said “soon guys” but Lucy had enough, she saw no movement on our boat, and summoned another dingy driver for a pickup. Once back home, a 30-minute sail had us arriving in Spanish town, where we enjoyed grocery shopping, lunch, and our first cold beverage since boarding Shamwari. Ella S and Ella W found a fruit stand and enjoyed fresh coconuts and free mango for the boat. Joshua was sick of the heat and returned to the boat while the rest of us continued exploring. But after a 3-hour exploration of Spanish Town, a 4-hour sail to our sleeping spot had a ton of excitement, including dolphins swimming under the net of our boat, and Meredith described it as “very cool.” But once we arrived at our sleeping spot, Josie and Wilkes enjoyed their daily ocean shower with a side of boiling fresh water.
After we all enjoyed showers, though, once again, Ollie and Grayson made us a delicious dinner meal of beef stroganoff and garlic bread. And Jake came over for a fun dinner. I (Thompson) came up with the nightly question, which was, “What was your dream job.” That ended up concluding with a wave and a nice flow into the dishes. And Ella Siegel is now helping me write this blog while everyone plays music and dances. All in all, day 5 was a day full of excitement and new experiences.
