Hi, my name is Ella!
Today, most of us woke up a little later than usual… 7:00 am, instead of our typical sunrise awakening at 4:00-5:00 am. Having a better night’s sleep without the interruption of screaming roosters at the crack of dawn definitely put the whole boat in a great mood to start off our first rotation day! Shortly after we woke up and got ready for the exciting day ahead, Ella S and Meredith blessed us with a delicious breakfast of melon and oatmeal, which was a fan favorite amongst our boat. While everyone finished up their morning jobs, I decided to take advantage of being the “skipper” for the day and took a morning swim with the five-foot-long tarpon hanging out under the boat. Our first activity of the day was learning to tie three different knots and drive the dingy boat, two skills that will be useful in the future. My group (Thompson, Ella S, Ollie, Hopie, Lucy, and myself) also had a diving competition, where the loser would have to eat one of the over-ripe bananas on the galley counter. After this, we got zesty on the water while sailing, and Wilkes showed off his skills of being a pro skipper to the rest of the group. Well… maybe until we capsised. We all had a quick lunch, Grayson with her famous BahaBlast drink, then went over to the divemaster to scuba dive for the first time. My group with Josie and Joshua killed it, and it was honestly one of my most memorable moments of the day. We all went back to the boat, where Ollie taught us all how to backflip and backdive. Lulu took the cake in doing an amazing backdive after conquering her fear of flopping on her back. Thompson, Ollie, Lulu, and I finished off the activities of the day with kneeboarding and waterskiing, in which we were practically blindfolded because of how big the helmets were on our heads. Finally, we all showered in the oceaJosie’s Josie’s communal hairbrush and enjoyed chili for dinner. We ended the day with a TikTok rizz party mosh pit, and Jake called up THE divemaster to invite him over to our boat, which caused a dramatic reaction amongst some of us girls on the boat (me).
Overall, today was another amazing day on ShamwaI’m and I’m eager to continue growing the frieI’veips I’ve made with the people on the (non-arguably) best boat in these upcoming weeks. Our aura is felt before we even pull up to the coves we anchor in.
Bye for now!
